Jess speaking:
Most medical professionals do not understand a lot about ADHD.
In medical school, ADHD is still thought about “not that huge an offer”, and typically even those who are studying psychology do not find out a lot about it in school.
So it’s truly crucial, if you can, to go to someone who concentrates on ADHD.
And the factor for that is: any psychological health specialist is going to need to take continuing education credits, which suggests they’re needing to discover brand-new things every year.
And if ADHD is something they focus on, that suggests that they are in fact getting that education on ADHD that they require, to be able to treat it appropriately.
So if you can, if you have the option to, opt for someone who comprehends and concentrates on ADHD.
Because a great deal of medical professionals, do not.
