Current polling has discovered that among the 30 percent of Americans who do not intend on getting a COVID-19 vaccine, 57 percent generally avoid vaccines completely.
The study, which questioned 10,121 U.S. grownups from February 16 to 21, 2021, discovered that 30 percent– roughly 3,036 individuals– stated they do not intend on getting a COVID-19 vaccine. These people provided various factors for their refusal.
Roughly 89 percent voiced concern about adverse effects, and 85 percent said they thought the vaccines were established and evaluated too rapidly. About 80 percent stated they desired more details about how well the vaccines work, and 74 percent stated they feel alarmed after seeing too many mistakes made by the healthcare system in the past. Around 68 percent said they didn’t think they required the vaccine.
Lastly, 57 percent stated that they don’t generally get vaccines. This portion represents around 1,730 individuals amongst the 3,036 individuals who stated they would not get immunized. The survey didn’t ask these individuals about their individual vaccination histories.
If these data were applied to the estimated 255.2 billion grownups in the U.S. population, that would suggest that 76.5 million grownups don’t plan on getting immunized. Roughly 43.6 million individuals in that subset would avoid vaccinations as a general guideline.
The study was performed by the Pew Research Center Survey and has a margin of error of plus or minus 1.6 percentage points.
