Study recruiting college students to track asymptomatic COVID transmission after vaccine

Researchers launched a National Institutes of Health-backed research study with thousands of college students to figure out whether Moderna’s COVID vaccine can prevent asymptomatic spread of the virus.

The state of play: The study, which launched Thursday, is looking for 12,000 college students to offer across 21 campuses, including the University of Maryland, the University of North Carolina, Texas A&M and Indiana University.

  • Some trainee volunteers can get paid almost $1,000 to participate completely.
