[Keep in mind: this video is mostly spoken discussion with periodic shown text matching what Jess states. Visual aspects are not explained at this time.]

Jess speaking:
This is my leading 3 methods to be an ally to those who are neurodivergent.

1. Acknowledge that individuals are neurodiverse.
Just like there’s variety in gender, ethnic culture, eye colour, and hair colour, there is variety in the method brains work. Do not anticipate someone else’s brain to work the very same method yours does, or for something that worked for you, to work for them.

What’s cognitively simple for a single person may really be truly cognitively challenging for another.

2. Listen to and think your neurodivergent partners.
When they inform you how their brain works, think them! Even if you learn about autism or ADHD or finding out impairments in basic, does not suggest you always understand how your private colleague works.
But that stated, request approval, since not everyone is comfy discussing this, and even those who are, do not always feel comfy speaking about it right then.

And lastly: 3. Consist of individuals who are neurodivergent in policies and programs that impact them.
There are a great deal of programs and services that are implied to support individuals who are neurodivergent. Supporter for your neurodivergent peers, and ensure that they have a seat at the table when policies are talked about.

Nothing about us, without us!
