Homage to Piano Pat Spoonheim (1934-2021)

Piano Pat” Spoonheim (1934-2021) played piano at the bar 4 nights a week for over 50 years.] Called “the heart of the Sip ‘n Dip”, Spoonheim was a great-grandmother.[ She performed what one reviewer described as “unusual covers” of songs, particularly those of Frank Sinatra, Neil Diamond and Elvis Presley.] Her individual preferred was stated to be “Try a Little Tenderness”but in a 2020 interview, she stated her preferred tune was Presley’s “Can’t Help Falling in Love”.
Spoonheim was initially from Rudyard, Montana, where her household owned an automobile supply shop. She started playing the piano at age 5, when her mom drove her on an 80-mile (130 km) round journey to Havre to take classical piano lessons. By the age of 12, she worked with grownups in a dance band, earning $10 per night (equivalent to $133 in 2020). She started singing as well as playing the piano when she lived in Billings, Montana. She was a 28-year-old separated single mom of 3 when she began working as the Sip ‘n Dip’s piano gamer in 1963, taking the position as a 2nd task in order to assistance her kids.
